One of Midrand SPCA’s many volunteers
MIDRAND - As an organisation that relies on charity, Midrand SPCA has many dedicated volunteers.
Urban Forest, a nursery based at Olifantsfontein Road in Glen Austin, specialises in trees and is one of the animal shelters’ many helpers. Speaking about their volunteer work with the SPCA, one of the owners, Brent Choate said, “We supply and plant trees… and every now and then we ask our customers to buy a tree to donate to the SPCA and we go and plant it.”
Choate said the other owner, Neil Hill, and he work with many other organisations and assist at the SPCA purely for the love of the animals.
Manager at the Midrand SPCA Elsje Naicker said the shelter appreciates all the work done by its volunteers and those people who support the SPCA.
She added, “If a tree has fallen over, sometimes due to lightning, Urban Forest come and cut the tree up for us. If we are doing the garden and we require plants, then they donate what is required and they advise what is best to use.”
Midrand SPCA would like to thank the community and many volunteers and other who give of their time and resources to make sure the animal shelter runs smoothly.
