Suspect linked to 9 rape cases in Midrand

RABIE RIDGE - An alleged serial rapist was arrested by Rabie Ridge detectives and blood sample tests have linked the 30-year-old to nine other cases.

Police spokesperson Constable Jacob Nhlongo said it is alleged that the latest victim who lives in Phomolong was raped and robbed of her belongings on 24 April at midday.

“The victim was surprised to find an unknown male in her kitchen and when she asked him what he was doing, he said he was looking for the victim’s boyfriend and referred to him by name,” said Nhlongo.

The victim told the suspect that her boyfriend was not there and the suspect pointed a screw driver at her and forced her to hand over money and cellphones. He then pushed her into a bedroom, undressed and allegedly raped her. The victim claimed that after raping her, he told her to take a bath while he searched for more valuables around the house and left.
