Ivory Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said, “The operation was successful, shop owners were caught red-handed making illegal sales. Among the 10 owners, two are South African citizens while eight are from neighbouring countries.”
Police also went to Tswelopele, Riverside and Kaalfontein where crates of liquor were confiscated and shops closed. Sekgobela added that owners were also fined R1 500.
She explained, “If the owner is caught for the second or third time selling liquor without a licence, he or she will be detained and all liquor confiscated.”
