Midrand police spokesperson, Constable Matome Tlamela, said according to the victim, she had been sent by her sister, who is a domestic worker, to collect money from the suspects for housework she had done for them.
“The victim alleged that when she arrived, the employer was with two other men and did not hand over the money but asked that she do some cleaning first since her sister was not around. The victim cleaned and afterwards, as she was about to ask for the money so she could leave, the men allegedly told the victim they would drive her to Boulders Taxi rank where she could take a taxi home,” said Tlamela.
According to Ria Sebetsa Security, who apprehended the suspects, one of the men reportedly remained in the complex in Vorna Valley.
Danny Maduray, from the security company, alleged that the suspects kidnapped the victim and took her to a complex in Halfway House and entered via the security gate with the victim inside the vehicle.
He elaborated, “One of the suspects allegedly got into the shower and then called out to the victim to join him in the bedroom, she refused and he [allegedly] grabbed her by the hair and she screamed, drawing the attention of a Ria Sebetsa patrol car that was in the complex.”
The security company apprehended the two suspects. The victim then told them about the other suspect in Vorna Valley. He was later apprehended. Police were called to the scene and the suspects were arrested.
Constable Tlamela said, “[Although] the men did not rape her, according to the law, the alleged way they touched her body and private parts without her consent is rape. [It seems] the suspects intended to rape her if they had not been stopped by the security company.”
The men will soon appear in court charged with rape and kidnap.
