Unlicensed driver nailed for culpable homicide

IVORY PARK - A man was arrested and charged with culpable homicide and driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence after his vehicle reportedly plowed into party guests, killing one person and injuring others.

 

Ivory Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said the incident took place in Ivory Park Ext 2 on 1 November. She explained, “It is alleged that a grey Polo hit four people who were dancing inside a tent at a 21st birthday party along a street in Ivory Park. One person was certified dead by paramedics at the scene of the accident.”

Sekgobela said three other victims were taken to hospital. After the accident the driver ran away but later handed himself over to Ivory Park police. The suspect and the victims were all guests at the party.

The suspect will appear in court soon.
