Stop taking the law into your own hands

MIDRAND - Ivory Park police are appealing to community members in Ivory Park to stop assaulting suspects as it is a criminal offence.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said on 31 October a group of people allegedly assaulted and killed a man in Ivory park Ext 14.

She said, “The group allegedly accused the deceased of committing housebreaking and theft in the area, but there is no case reported against the deceased as yet.

“When the police arrived at the scene, the victim was badly beaten and police took him to a hospital where he died on arrival.”

A case of murder has been opened and police are asking anyone with information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects to notify police. Residents are advised to report any criminal activities to the police and wait for the law to take its course.
