Man arrested for attempted theft out of motor vehicle

MIDRAND - A 29-year-old suspect wasy arrested for attempted smash and grab on the New Road off-ramp in Midrand on 20 November.

 

Midrand police spokesperson, Constable Matome Tlamela said police were doing routine crime prevention patrols in the area and spotted a man trying to break into a vehicle, with the driver in it, at the traffic lights on New Road. Tlamela added, “Police acted quickly and managed to arrest the suspect. The suspect was searched at the scene during the arrest and broken glasses were found in his pockets. Police suspect that the man may be linked to other cases of smash and grabs that have occurred at New Road.”

The suspect will appear in court soon facing charges of an attempted smash and grab.
