First school day in Midrand

MIDRAND - The children of Carlswald Preparatory School began their school year on a high on 13 January.

The Grade 1s were all smiles as they collected their name tags and were assigned to their seats. As parents dropped off their children for the first year of their formal schooling, there were no tears. The new Grade 1s just spoke anxiously with their classmates and sat wide-eyed waiting for instructions from their teacher.

The school’s headmaster, Stewart Tagg said, “They are all so excited to start school. We are glad to see happy parents and pupils at the school.”

He said the school was proud to announce new developments which the pupils could enjoy and use to enhance their academic experience. “We’ve four new classrooms, we now have a head of sport and head of the 345 Nursery school,” he said. “The whole school has Wi-Fi.”

Tagg added that they were looking forward to starting competitive sports in the second term. “This will be softball for girls and cricket for the boys.”

The school’s parents were asked by Tagg to offer as much support to their children as needed to ensure academic excellence. “The partnership between the school, the child and the parent is essential in the results. If one of the components breaks down, the whole system breaks down.”
