Midrand police educate domestic workers

MIDRAND - Midrand police recently attended a Sun Valley Making A Difference Domestic (Mad) Watch Forum meeting in Sun Valley co-ordinated by Bonnie Friedman.

In the meeting, domestic workers were educated on how to report crime anonymously and were told to provide information such as the name and contact details of the suspect committing the crime, as well as where the crime is going to be or is being committed. The police also took the opportunity to address domestic workers on crime prevention measures.

As part of their crime prevention initiative, police are also targeting schools. “Midrand police, jointly with Metro police, then went on to conduct a school drug operation whereby they searched pupils at a particular school for illegal substances,” said Midrand Police Station’s head of communications, Constable Matome Tlamela.

“The operation was successful and no illegal substances were found at the school,” said Tlamela.
