Suspect arrested for possession of stolen vehicle

MIDRAND - A man was recently arrested for the possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle in Ivory Park Ext 2 and was taken to Ivory Park Police Station's holding cells.

Ivory Park police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said the suspect was arrested by Benoni Flying Squad officers.

Sekgobela said, “The team was working around Tembisa Cluster at the time and received information about a silver VW Polo that was stolen during a housebreaking and theft in Douglasdale.”

The flying squad followed the vehicle’s tracking device to one of the tuck shops in Ivory Park Ext 2. Police found the vehicle parked at the tuck shop without any registration plates. Police proceeded to ask the suspect, who was at the tuck shop, about the vehicle and he allegedly told police that the vehicle belongs to another man but he was not sure about the man’s whereabouts.

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in court soon.
