Man burns to death after accidentally catching alight

MIDRAND - A man burnt to death on the evening of 7 April after accidentally catching alight.

According to ER24, paramedics arrived at the scene on Rosemary Road in Midrand to find a man lying in a trench next to the road. His clothes were still smoldering.

On assessment paramedics found that the man had already succumbed to his multiple burn wounds.

Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on scene.

The man had reportedly been cutting a fence with a blowtorch and brake fluid when he caught alight.

The incident is being investigated further.
