According to Rabie Ridge Police Station, business robberies are increasing in the Rabie Ridge area.
Spokesperson for Rabie Ridge Police Station, Constable Jacob Nhlongo said, “Incidents [are on the rise] where five men, two armed with firearms, allegedly break down walls of businesses to gain access and rob shop owners of money, cigarettes, and airtime.” Nhlongo explained that in some incidents, shop owners have been shot.
“No suspects have been arrested yet, but police are investigating the cases. In Sector 3 [Mayibuye section] a sector commander, Sergeant Mzamane Xirhida has formed a patrolling team with shop owners to prevent such crimes.”
Police are appealing to the community to report suspects.
