Ivory Park police arrested four of five suspects aged between 28 to 42 on 2 June for house robbery.
The suspects allegedly entered a business in Ivory Park Ext 2 on the evening of 31 May and threatened employees with firearms and took an undisclosed amount of cash and airtime.
Spokesperson for Ivory Park Police Station, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said, “The suspects allegedly fled the scene using a Toyota Quantum. The driver of the vehicle was arrested on 2 June in the early hours of the morning at Kanana Informal Settlement. Another suspect was arrested in Ivory Park Ext 2 and two accomplices were later caught in Alexandra.”
Sekgobela said one of the suspects who was arrested had allegedly bought a Toyota Corolla on 2 June before being arrested. “The vehicle was taken to Van Ryn Deep by police, we are investigating the matter. The suspects will appear in Tembisa Magistrates’ Court soon to face business robbery charges. The arrest is a success for the Ekurhuleni North Cluster police.”
Police are still looking for the fifth suspect.
