Vorna Valley vlei is cleaned up

MIDRAND – Residents and companies clean up an important space in Midrand.

 

The Vorna Valley Residents Association and residents came together to clean up the Vorna Valley Vlei, with many bags of litter collected at the end of the day.

The clean-up, attended by residents and members the City of Johannesburg, companies in Midrand and the association, started at Le Roux Avenue and ended up on Harry Galaun Drive.

Speaking about the annual clean-up, chairperson of the association, Marianne Nel said, “We would like to thank everyone that attended the vlei clean-up, especially the children that came along and all our sponsors which include Wendy Redl of Harcourts Midrand, Vorna Valley Spar, TRSS, Firzt Reality, City of Joburg and ADT Security.”

The City of Johannesburg’s Region A regional director, Abigail Ndlovu also took part in the clean-up and said, “The vlei is a vital link in the health of our community. It is the green lung of Midrand that provides the air we breathe, so it should be kept clean.”
