The Midrand Community Policing Forum (CPF) together with the Midrand Police Station are aiming to be more transparent by communicating issues that affect community members as well as their own good work.
The communication platform will focus on many things but will mostly look at educating community members on how sector policing works and who to contact if you have issues that need resolution.
The CPF said if a resident is a victim of crime and has opened a case with the police but is not being assisted speedily, their next step would be to contact the branch commander, Lieutenant Colonel Koekemoer on 082 467 8451 or the communications officer, Constable Matome Tlamela on 079 877 6484 and lastly, the station commander Lieutenant Colonel David Mahloromela on 082 467 8451 or 082 828 6032.
If someone is faced with a life-threatening emergency, they should first contact the police on 10111 and then their security company. But, if the situation is not life-threatening, then community members should call their sector vehicle.
A vehicle will be dispatched, then a statement will be taken at the police station and a docket will be opened, with a case number generated. The case number should be sent to the complainant via SMS within 24 hours. The docket should then be allocated to a detective within 72 hours, and a notification will be sent to the complainant via SMS, informing them of who the detective working on the case is and their contact details. If this process is not followed, the complainant may then contact the above-mentioned numbers and state their case to them.
The Midrand policing precinct is divided into 5 sectors and each sector has a sector manager and vehicle that can be contacted.
