Ivory Park Police Station detectives recently arrested two brothers, aged 24 and 26, for the murder of a man in September.
Spokesperson for Ivory Park Police Station, Captain Bernard Matimulane said, “Following a thorough investigation, detectives managed to get enough evidence and the whereabouts of the two brothers who were arrested for murder at their place of work in Midrand on 10 October, just weeks after the murder was committed.”
The murder allegedly occurred after a night of drinking next to a tavern in Kaalfontein Ext 4.
Matimulane revealed, “Witnesses at the scene said that the victim, a 27-year-old, died after trying to mediate in a fight between one of the brothers and someone named Bafana and he [the victim] was stabbed. The two accused, who had relocated to Mamelodi after the incident, have appeared at Tembisa Magistrates’ Court. Their case was postponed to a later date.”
The station commander, Brigadier Mbongeni Ngcobo, thanked the detectives for a job well done and, most importantly, thanked community members who came forward to make statements with regard to the case. He stated, “We have repeatedly said that when the community and the police join hands, we would be able to solve any kind of crime that we, as law enforcers, are confronted with.”
