Old Midrand officers reunite

MIDRAND - Old officers reunite for the first time in 15 years...

 

The old Midrand traffic department held its first reunion at the Blackwoods Pub restaurant in Centurion on 19 November since it was disbanded.

The department was dissolved in 2001 to form Midrand Public Safety, which later fell under Johannesburg Metro. Officers who had worked for the department since the 80s attended the event. The organiser, Richard Wheler revealed that about 50 employees of the department attended the event.

“The event was a huge success. Former colleagues from as far as Germany and Cape Town came. It was good to see them after 15 years. We should have done it long ago and we are planning on having another one next year,” said Wheler.
