UPDATE, 6 December at 11.20
Midrand centres, such as Carlswald Lifestyle Centre, have been the target of bomb scares with San Ridge Square on the corner of New and Lever roads being the latest.
The centre’s operations manager from managing company Broll, Frikkie Hetzel, said Woolworths was the store that received the anonymous bomb threat and alerted the management.
Hetzel said patrons and staff were evacuated at about 1pm on 5 December. Furthermore, Hetzel revealed that this was the second bomb threat in three weeks, with the first bomb threat at Absa.
Midrand police’s operations manager, Captain Lionel Chetty did confirm the bomb threats.
Hetzel said he hopes these bomb threats will come to an end soon because many businesses are being hit by the continuous evacuations and closures.
