DA members donate sanitary towels

MIDRAND – Councillor says a sanitary towels initiative is not a one-off and will be an ongoing activity.

 

Ward 112 councillor Madeleine Hicklin, DA proportional representation councillor for wards 110 and 80, Nicci Rahn, and several party members distributed sanitary towels to Grade 8 girls at Allanridge Secondary School on 9 February.

Hundreds of sanitary towels were collected in Ward 112 and spread to other areas. Community members – fathers, mothers and anyone who wanted to play a part in the lives of young girls – donated the sanitary towels to make sure no young girl missed school because of a shortage of sanitary towels.

Hicklin said the initiative would be an ongoing activity. Hundreds of sanitary towels were even left over.
