Serial rape accused allegedly raped 11 women from 2015 – 2017

MIDRAND – Man accused of serial rape faces 12 charges

A man appeared in Tembisa Magistrates’ Court on 23 February facing 12 charges of rape and robberies.

According to Captain Ralidzhivha Manyadza from Tembisa Police Station, the 32-year-old accused allegedly lured his victims to an open space between Kaalfontein and Birchleigh train stations.

He would allegedly promise the victims employment, claiming that there is a company looking for workers and pretended to be the manager of the company.

“He [allegedly] raped 11 women from 2015 till January 2017. The suspect was apprehended at his usual rape spot with the 12th victim, a woman he had [first] robbed of an unknown amount of cash after falsely promising her that she was going to an interview at the company.

“The suspect took the victim’s cellphone numbers at the Kempton Park Civic Centre after she deposited her curriculum vitae in a box at the centre,” said Manyadza.

All the victims were pepper sprayed, then allegedly overpowered and raped.

The man was positively identified by 11 of his victims.

The case was postponed to 24 February and later postponed to 27 February.
