Store gives to disabled children in Kaalfontein
MIDRAND - A helping hand for the less fortunate.
Tshimollo, A home for disabled children in Kaalfontein, received much-needed donations and assistance from Shoprite.
The retailer spread the love at the home by providing new mattresses, base sets and bed linen, and spoons and bowls for the children. Furthermore, the company installed a new toilet, tiled the floors, painted the interior, and donated tables, chairs and two television sets. FutureLife also donated 135kg of Unity instant porridge.
“When Dion Raboroko, a driver for one of Shoprite’s Mobile Soup Kitchens, alerted the retailer to the dire situation at the Tshimollo home for the disabled, the supermarket chain responded quickly. Shoprite has a proud tradition of reaching out and caring for the communities in which it operates, especially where there is an identified need,” said Shoprite marketing manager, Adele Kruger-Taljaard.
Founder of the home that houses 45 children, Lebogang Ramushu, said she felt blessed to have received the assistance from the food retailer which had changed the home and the lives of the children.
“I feel so overwhelmed; if we had wings we would fly,” she said.
“I would like to thank God and Shoprite for the generous donation.”
The day ended with song and dance, and the company provided gift hampers, cake and food for the children and student nurses who assist at the home.
