Police are looking for information on suspects of robbery and attempted murder

MIDRAND - Police are looking for three suspects that shot three and robbed a shop at Tswelopele.

Ivory Park police officers are looking for three men who allegedly shot and injured three people in the early hours of 28 March and also broke into a local business in Tswelopele.

Two of the victims who were shot were part of a group of six people who were walking from church, while the third victim was asleep in his shack when he was hit by a stray bullet.

According to the police, the three armed suspects allegedly gained entry to the shop by breaking the wall, assaulted the shopkeeper and took an undisclosed amount of cash and airtime vouchers.

“It so happened that as they were coming out of the shop, the pastor and five members of his congregation were coming from their prayer session when they were confronted by a hail of bullets. Two congregants, including the pastor himself, were shot, while the third victim was hit while asleep in his shack,” said spokesperson for the Ivory Park Police Station Captain Bernard Matimulane. All three victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

The police station management called a community meeting shortly after the incident. During the meeting, the station commander, Brigadier David Ngcobo appealed to the community to come forward with any information that may assist in arresting the perpetrators.
