Hikhensile Clinic in Ivory Park is one of seven healthcare centres which have extended its operating hours in the city.
This was revealed by Johannesburg Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba during the launch of extended working hours at Freedom Park Clinic on 3 April.
The operating hours at Hikhensile Clinic are extended from 7am to 7pm on weekdays, and 7am to 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. The clinic will also be opened on public holidays.

The first two clinics to have their working hours extended were Princess Clinic followed by Freedom Park. Hikhensile, Randburg, Zandspruit and Albert Street clinics have extended their hours effective from 1 April.

“Our clinics must be transformed from being mere healthcare facilities to being multi-functional centres where events such as health workshops and local drug action community meetings can be hosted.
“We are conscious that this can be achieved by, among other things, improving staff members and the remuneration of all healthcare workers, such as doctors, nurses, environmental practitioners and health promoters,” said Mashaba.
Mashaba also thanked the MMC for Health and Social Development, Mpho Phalatse, and qualified and experienced doctors at the clinic for their tireless work and for making his vision of extended operating hours of Johannesburg clinics a reality.
