Midrand police arrested 29 people for various crimes from 7 to 10 July.
The arrests were as follows:
- 1 for shoplifting
- 10 for drunken driving
- 1 for possession of stolen vehicle
- 1 for housebreaking
- 5 for possession of dagga
- 1 for defeating the course of justice and interference
- 1 for intimidation
- 2 for fraud
- 1 for reckless and negligence driving
- 1 for general theft
- 2 for malicious damage to property.
The spokesperson for Midrand Police Station, Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono warned community members to be cautious and vigilant when at shopping centres in Midrand. “The police have decided to convene a meeting with shop owners in order to come up with a plan of how to tackle shoplifting which is also proving to be a challenge at the moment,” said Semono.
