Celebrating local women in business

MIDRAND – Local women Kgomotso Ranta and Lesego Sakutu are growing their businesses through fashion and art.

Kgomotso Ranta launched Seoksbeads on 29 July in Gorgeously Bold Boutique at Carlswald Décor Centre, Midrand.

Ranta has been living in Midrand since 2003 and has throughout the years used various canvasses to express her creativity, but in December 2016 her canvas of choice was beads and that was when the accessory company was founded.

“The pieces are inspired by the world and colours around us – be it beautiful furniture, architecture or beautiful patterns – but they are kept simple. Yet they make very bold statements and accentuate any outfit,” said Ranta.

Seoksbeads is in partnership with a fashion house inspired by the love of African prints, Gorgeously Bold Boutique, owned by a tailor, Lesego Sakutu, who has lived in Midrand since 1999.

“There are many entrepreneurs in Midrand and they have inspired Seoksbeads to push forward. The aim is also to expand the company and create employment for the community while sharing the skills in the process,” said Ranta.

Sakutu said her boutique store is always keen to partner with women in arts – women who are based in Midrand. “Seoksbeads and Gorgeously Bold Boutique is a perfect combination for the love of arts, our brands complement each other. Beautiful clothes are not always complete without unique accessories, which is what Seoksbeads offers.

“As we start Women’s Month, we celebrate local women in business and those making a contribution to the community,” Sakutu
