Midrand police pay tribute to fallen hero

MIDRAND – A sad day for Midrand Police Station.

 

Midrand Police Station’s fallen hero, Detective Sergeant Luyanda Matthewson Sicina died on 19 July and was laid to rest on 29 July.

The memorial service was held at the police station on 27 July where most of his colleagues honoured Sicina by remembering his dedication to his work and strong character.

“Sicina was involved in a car accident on 29 May and was taken to Glywood Hospital where he was admitted for serious injuries. He has been in and out of hospital ever since his accident until he was no longer able to fight and he left us,” said the spokesperson for the station, Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono.

Semono said the family is still dealing with their loss and are not comfortable releasing a picture of Sicina.
