Blue Valley School Brotherhood raises R23 000 for charity

BLUE HILLS – Golfing group bands together to make a difference in the community.

In honour of Women’s Month, the Blue Valley School Brotherhood, a group of 30 men who started off as a weekend golfing club, decided to make use of their combined resources to make a difference in their community.

An amount of R23 000 was raised during their annual Presidents Cup and the funds were donated to the Makeba Home for Girls in Midrand through the Methodist Church.

The home was opened in 2003 and houses girls aged 11 to 17 and provides them with a home, a library for school work and a vegetable garden.

The donation was well received by elders of the church, the facilitator of the home, Maude Mokoena and other community members.

Senior members of the brotherhood, Ben Nkosi, president; Ufikile Khumalo, chairperson; and Jeff Moloto, captain and treasurer handed over the donation.
