Two men arrested for China Mall robbery

MIDRAND – Two men arrested for business robbery at China Mall following a tip-off.

Midrand police arrested two people on the evening of 3 October for a business robbery that took place at China Mall in Halfway House.

“Police received an anonymous tip-off which yielded the wanted results when followed up. There were five suspects during the robbery but three managed to flee the scene and only two were arrested,” said Midrand police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono.

Two firearms were recovered during the arrest and the two suspects are due to appear in the Midrand Magistrates’ Court soon. The police remain positive that more arrests will be made.

Semono encouraged the community to continue working with the police by immediately reporting any suspicious behaviour, without incriminating themselves if they want to remain anonymous.

“The residents are more than the police force, therefore, if we all remain vigilant of the things that happen in our community, we will have a better chance of eradicating criminals and discouraging those who are perhaps still thinking of turning to crime in Midrand,” said Semono.
