The police received an anonymous call from a passerby about a body in the Austin View veld at about 6am today, 15 November.
Rabie Ridge police spokesperson, Captain Matsobane Masela, said the dead woman was thought to be in her 20s or 30s. It is suspected that the victim’s naked body was dumped at the scene.
“So far, it looks as though the lady was strangled because there is no blood but her corpse has bruises and scratches. Therefore, we assume she sustained the injuries during a struggle,” said Masela.
A forensic team from Germiston arrived at about 11.45am to collect the body, which had reportedly been lying at the scene for several hours.
Police are now investigating a case of murder.
