Seven years’ imprisonment for Blue Hills robber

MIDRAND – Blue Hills robber Mafumo has been sentenced to seven years' direct imprisonment.

 

Augusto Mafumo (20) has been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment by Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 9 November.

Spokesperson for Midrand Police Station, Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono said, “Mafumo robbed two women of their cellphones using a toy gun at Blue Hills on 31 May.”

On 6 June, the two victims recognised Mafumo while he was attempting to rob them again in the same area.

Mafumo was arrested after the two women’s male colleague they had been travelling with intervened and apprehended Mafumo before calling the police, who on arrival realised that the robber was carrying a toy gun.

The investigating officer Warrant Officer Joseph Lamola opened an armed robbery case and the suspect was detained at Midrand Police Station cells until his sentencing.
