Sagewood representing Midrand well

MIDRAND – Sagewood School's grade seven learners represented their school, pupils, and community well at the public speaking festival.

Sagewood School was flawlessly represented by eight of their Grade 7 learners at The Speech and Drama College’s 57th high schools public speaking festival which was held at Roedean School on 28 February.

“Each team, which consisted of four learners, had to choose a quote from a song by a South African artist and create speech topics,” said Vanitha Govindasamy, the head of academics at Sagewood School.

Both teams delivered their speeches with great composure, confidence and technique.

“Our learners’ dedication and effort culminated in charming and polished performances that impressed everyone at the event and both teams were awarded A plus symbols. We are very proud of their achievement and hope that they continue to explore their talent in this area.”

Maheshan Govender, Nia Madalane, Sicebiso Zotwane and Sabelo Shangase.

Govindasamy thanked all the teachers who played a role in training the learners and ensuring that they were well-rehearsed and prepared for the evening.

“Excellent technique, a delightful team, maturely constructed, very strong opening, confidently delivered, interesting research and clear articulation were just some of the adjudicator’s comments.”
