Tshimollo Home for the disabled need your help

MIDRAND – Lebogang Ramushu turned her house into a home for disabled children in February 2016.

Tshimollo Home for children living with disabilities in Kaalfontein is in need of a new structure to accommodate the more than 40 children living in it.

Founder of the home, Lebogang Ramushu turned her house into a home for disabled children in February 2016. However, she never anticipated that more children would be flocking to the home for care. She is currently housing 45 disabled children suffering from epilepsy, autism, cerebral palsy and hydrocephalus and the home needs R850 000 to pay for the identified land to build a new structure.

“The home caters for both girls and boys. Therefore space is at times a big challenge as children do have enough room for movement and separating the two groups of children according to their sexes. We really need a new structure so we could accommodate more children because there is a high demand,” said Ramushu.

Ramushu has appealed to the corporate sector and the community at large to assist the home to acquire the amount required. Due to the health condition of the children, they need constant medical care. Tshimollo is in serious need of transport sponsorship to take the children to hospital when physiotherapy sessions are required and when emergencies are encountered.

The home pays a taxi R1 000 to transport the children to Tembisa Hospital where they receive physiotherapy twice a week and to attend sports events once a week at Nompilo Centre. In addition to that, they need transport to collect food from sponsors.

“Transport has been one of the burning issues we have because it has become very expensive and children need to get medical care as they suffer from various health complications.”

It is not just money that can assist Tshimollo to operate at its best and provide the best care for the children. Donations such as food and volunteers to help around are welcome.

“To those who showed us love, support and care, we would like to send our greatest gratitude. To those who played a part in building Tshimollo home – your support means a lot to us. To those who are still coming, thank you in advance.”

Ramushu thanked the parents who brought their children for believing in Tshimollo to taking many of them there.

“We apologise for the failure at times, but we strive to bring out the best in our children. Tshimollo is now growing into something big because of the faith you have in us and the support we always get from most churches. Thank you.”
