Ubuntu Rabie Ridge Foundation appeals for support to expand youth empowerment initiatives
A generous donation of blankets and soup packs has boosted the Ubuntu Rabie Ridge Foundation's winter drive as it continues its mission to uplift vulnerable families.
Just months after its launch, the Ubuntu Rabie Ridge Foundation is already making a tangible difference in the community, through programmes aimed at supporting vulnerable residents.
Now, the organisation is appealing to businesses, organisations, and individuals to partner with it as it works to empower young people and tackle poverty. Founded earlier this year by community leader George ‘Loveg’ Henry, the foundation is driven by a vision of building communities where young people are empowered through education, employment opportunities, strong social support systems, and environmental sustainability.

Among its first successful initiatives was a sanitary pad donation drive that provided much-needed hygiene products to local schoolgirls. The foundation has since expanded its outreach through a winter blanket drive following a generous donation from Acts of Love Church. The church donated 100 blankets, 100 beanies, and 10 soup packs, which will benefit vulnerable families during the cold winter months.
Foundation chairperson Henry thanked the church for its support. “Because of the church’s generosity, 100 families will stay warm and have hope this winter. Your kindness is a true reflection of God’s love in action, and we are honoured to partner with an organisation that is making a real difference in our communities.
“Our main purpose is to assist young people who have been affected by drug and alcohol abuse, unemployment, and other social challenges. When the expanded public works programme came to an end, we realised the need to continue supporting them through the foundation.
“We are looking for donors and partners who want to help create real change in our community. We have more than 300 young people on our database who are unemployed and living in poverty. Our goal is to address service delivery through job creation, and we are already making progress by securing learnership opportunities for our youth.”

Foundation treasurer Jasmine Mavuso said partnerships with donors and sponsors are critical to ensuring the organisation’s long-term sustainability. “We cannot do this work on our own. What keeps us going is our vision and our mission to reach those who are most affected in our community.”
Mavuso added that the foundation has already secured 100 learnership opportunities covering early childhood development, sports, and food security programmes.
The foundation encourages businesses, organisations, and members of the public to support its various community upliftment initiatives through donations, sponsorships, or partnerships.
