An armed robbery took place outside the Carlswald Decor Centre on the corner of 5th Street and Harry Galaun Drive.
According to the spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station Sergeant Matome Tlamela, the complainant and her husband were driving a white Ford Ranger along Harry Galaun Street on 7 May. “They were behind another vehicle at a robot. When the robot turned green, the vehicle in front of them did not move and another car stopped parallel to their car. Four suspects got out of the vehicle and pointed guns at the complainant and her husband.
“They instructed her husband to lie down on the roadside and fired a shot in the air while asking him to hand over his Rolex watch to the value of R200 000 and car keys.”
Tlamela added that another suspect asked the complainant to hand over her keys and attempted to start the car, however, they were disturbed by other motorists and fled the scene without taking the car.
It is suspected that the infamous Rolex Gang was involved in this incident. The suspects are still at large.
