10 vehicles damaged in Olifantsfontein − report

OLIFANTSFONTEIN − It is alleged that the vehicles were damaged at the hands of a group that marched on one of three companies at the office park.

It is being reported that 10 vehicles were damaged at an Olifantsfontein business park last Wednesday, allegedly by about 100 people who marched on the office park.

IOL is reporting that the group was alleged to have petrol bombed the offices of a packaging company and then smashed vehicles in a communal car park for three companies, taking contents from the vehicles.

The damaged cars are said to have mainly belonged to employees of another company and not of the company alleged to have been targeted by the group.

It is apparently thought that the incident was connected to the strike in the plastic sector.

There is a further allegation that the members of the group are linked to a particular union, however no response from the union allegedly involved in the incident was obtained in the original report.

The Midrand Reporter is following up on the incident and more information to follow as it is verified.
