MIDRAND – This act of kindness is sure to warm your hearts and demonstrates that the spirit of giving is alive in our suburbs this Christmas.
The Midrand SPCA has extended thanks to a man who rushed to inform the staff of a dog that had fallen into a manhole.

The Midrand SPCA posted on its Facebook page that, on hearing the news, Inspector Theo Mokgatle rushed out to the site. The Midrand SPCA said Mokgatle found a ‘very scared and confused dog stuck in a dark and filthy manhole lying in the mud’.

“We suspect that the dog may have fallen into the hole yesterday [23 December] trying to get away from the storm or he may have fallen in after the storm as the cover was also lying in the hole,” read the post on the Midrand SPCA Facebook page.
“Inspector Mokgatle managed to get the dog out of the hole and loaded the dog into his vehicle and took him back to the office where our kennel manager, Renny, gave the poor doggie a nice bath.
“Thankfully the dog was not injured and is now safe and dry with a nice bowl of food, water and a warm bed to sleep in tonight [24 December].”

The Midrand SPCA extended thanks to the man who reported the matter and to Mokgatle for saving the dog and ‘showing him what love and kindness is on Christmas Eve’.
