Happynest youth learn from a princess

MIDRAND – Children did mindfulness activities on the day with Miss Commonwealth princess.

To end off 2018 and prepare for the new year, Miss Commonwealth princess Lèchar Perfect visited Happynest Grades Noordwyk School in December.

Perfect said the purpose of the visit was for the children to meet a princess to show them that whatever they put their mind to, they could achieve.

“There are children with big dreams in the school and they are determined to make them happen. A few believe they will be the president one day,” she said.

The pageant princess said she did some mindfulness activities with the children which helps them to relax.

“The theme of the mindfulness activities was, ‘I am unique, I am special.’ Learners poured love into their silent drawing activity and each child had a chance to tell me what they thought was special and unique about themselves as well as their friend.

“Afterwards, some singing took place followed by a loving-kindness meditation with piano ambience in the background.”

Librarian Tshepo Ntimane of Halfway House Library was also part of the visit.
