Community rallies together as mother goes into labour in Midrand complex
MIDRAND – Read here for details on how you can assist this young family.

On Saturday morning, 2 February, the Midrand Sector 2 crime forum received a message from a resident asking to assist a young woman in labour in a housing complex.
Paramedics, along with CPF personnel, arrived to assist the young mother who is the wife of a security guard in the area.
“Not even 30 minutes later, Baby Thabang was born in the ambulance, which did not manage to get to leave the complex,” said Jacqui von Loggernburg of the Midrand CPF.
“Unfortunately the circumstances of [the] mother and baby are quite dire. The sector crime forum, patrollers and the community again jumped in and collected an amazing amount of baby goodies. We are overwhelmed by the support and generosity of our amazing community, Baby Adam will have a much more gentle start to life.”

Darren Bester, a patroller of the sector crime forum, collected donations along with fellow patrollers Tracy Basson and Jason Shortt.
“It was discovered that [the parents] stay in a wendy house and had absolutely nothing for the baby,” Bester said.
The community is called on to assist with any basic baby necessities including nappies, creams, wet wipes, clothes, etc. If you would like to donate, please call 064 572 0419.
Please note that any leftover items or food will be given to the Victim Empowerment Unit at Midrand police to distribute to children homes in Midrand who are in need.
