Midrand SPCA answers a call to assist injured monkey in Noordwyk

NOORDWYK – Midrand SPCA assists an injured monkey in the area after residents notified them.

The Midrand SPCA was recently notified of an injured monkey spotted in Noordwyk area.

Inspector Jeremy Seemise responded to the call. His initial efforts to trap the monkey by using food were unsuccessful. It was later discovered that the monkey was being fed by members of the public, which made the cage unnecessary. Seemise asked the public to stop feeding the monkey as they needed to capture it in order to medically assist it.

The second attempt turned out successful and the monkey was taken to an accredited rehabilitation facility. Unfortunately,  due to the severity of the injuries, the vet decided to humanely euthanise the monkey.
