WATCH: Local businesses show tremendous support for Midrand Reporter’s #WeSupportMidrandSPCA initiative

MIDRAND – Under the banner of Caxton Cares, the Midrand Reporter called on the community, and particularly local businesses, to support the publication's #WeSupportMidrandSPCA initiative. And we are gobsmacked at the support local businesses have shown. We were able to hand over a substantial amount of dog food for the Midrand SPCA on Nelson Mandela International Day.

The Midrand Reporter spent some seriously rewarding time at the Midrand SPCA this Nelson Mandela International Day on Thursday, 18 July.

Under the banner of Caxton Cares, the Midrand Reporter called on the Midrand community, and particularly local businesses, to assist us. For every advert purchased in our special Nelson Mandela International Day feature, a portion of the booking fee went towards dog food for the Midrand SPCA. This was under a #WeSupportMidrandSPCA initiative.

The Midrand Reporter was able to hand over a pile of dog food bags due to the phenomenal support received from local businesses who chose to support our cause.

Our sister publication, the Fourways Review did the same for Ark Animal Centre in a #WeSupportArk initiative.

Here, Caxton Local Media’s Joburg North branch’s group editor, Daniella Potter, chats to Midrand SPCA’s general manager, Pam Pretorius about what the needs of the SPCA are:

Pretorius continues to outline the SPCA’s needs here:

If you would still like to make a contribution to the Midrand Reporter’s #WeSupportMidrandSPCA initiative this Nelson Mandela International Day, talk to our sales rep, Samantha (samanthas@caxton.co.za), about booking in our feature (which will appear online and in our Nelson Mandela Day feature in next week’s paper, Week ending 26 July, 2019).

Also, check out how our sister publication’s #WeSupportArk initiative went.

The Sandton Chronicle and the Rosebank Killarney Gazette, meanwhile, united to paint classrooms for Nelson Mandela International Day at the Sunshine Centre in Craighall. Check out photos from the day here.
