‘We don’t drink or sell confiscated liquor’

RABIE RIDGE – Rabie Ridge police advise all liquor outlets to comply with the Liquor Act or they will have their permits withdrawn.

Rabie Ridge Police Station denied allegations that they drink or sell confiscated liquor after conducting raids at illegal liquor outlets.

The spokesperson for the station, Constable Jacob Nhlongo said some people claimed that police drink or resell confiscated alcohol to other outlets.

“Rather, we as Rabie Ridge Police Station destroy the liquor that was taken from illegal liquor outlets,” he said.

“The empty bottles are sold at the nearest legal outlet. The money attained from the bottles is then given to the station’s finance office.

“We advise all liquor outlets to comply with the Liquor Act, and more especially [comply with the] closing times of their outlets. Those who do not comply and abide by the law will have their permits withdrawn and they will be forced to close down their businesses.”
