Help learners say farewell in style

KLIPFONTEIN – Drake Koka Primary school is hosting a farewell for the Grade 7s and would love to get help from the community.

Drake Koka Primary School in Kaalfontein are planning their first annual Grade 7 farewell gala and are asking for any assistance to help send the learners away in style.

The head of the school’s mathematics and sciences department, Alex Songo explained that the event seeks to create an event similar to a matric dance but on a primary school level.

“Being aware that some learners might not make it to Grade 12, the event will also cater for them and possibly encourage them to make it all the way, as most of them are from less-fortunate backgrounds around the school’s surrounding undeveloped areas such as Kaalfontein and Ivory Park in particular.

“Learners will not pay for the event. The event will take place at our school during the day and we will be serving a three-course meal. Learners can dress up, there is also going to be guest speakers who will orientate and prepare them for secondary schooling as well as entertainment.”

To make this special event one to remember, Songo said they are need of donations, particularly for catering companies to make the three-course meal a success. Any food, soft drinks, meat and monetary donations will be appreciated.

The deadline for all donations is 27 November as the event is on 28 November this year.

For more information on making a donation, please contact Alex Songo on 074 936 5421 or 081 322 3502 or email asongo74@gmail.com
