Covid-19: Midrand CPF assists those in need during national lockdown
MIDRAND – The community assists those in need during the coronavirus lockdown.
The Midrand CPF with the assistance of private security services collected donations of food and toiletries from the local community to assist those in need during the 21-day coronavirus lockdown.
Public relations officer for the Midrand Community Policing Forum Jacqui von Loggerenberg said the forum called on the community to leave cans of food outside their homes which were, in turn, collected by the CPF with help from local security services including Hawkeye, ARN Security, Savika Armed Response, TRSS Reaction and Fidelity Security.

She said that they collected 50 bags of mealie meal and sugar, 500 tins of food, 40 bags of pasta as well as toiletries. “This shows the spirit of ubuntu and looking out for each other in our community. Almost like a village, in a village you would not let anybody starve and getting to know your community.”
She added, “The same goes for crime. If you know that somebody is being abused you should report it, if you know someone is hungry you should be helping them or find a way to help them.”
Von Loggerenberg said that the community policing forum will be continuing the project and will assist anyone in need. She added that people looking for assistance message the Midrand CPF on their Facebook page.
