Ivory Park police investigate murder in Ebony Park

EBONY PARK – The Ivory Park police acting station commander Colonel Baba Mpotoane expressed his shock at the incident.

Local police have opened and are investigating a case of murder following a fatal shooting in the early hours of January 21.

Ivory Park Police Station spokesperson Captain Ben Matimulane said, “Two friends coming from a famous tavern in Ebony Park were accosted by a group of six men, two of whom had firearms.”

Matimulane continued that the victims were reportedly searched by the suspects. The one victim managed to flee while the other ‘was taken to a secluded spot’. “When the victim with members of the community came back, they found [the other victim] lying lifeless. They immediately rushed to inform his family.
“He had been shot in the back of the head.”

The victim was robbed of his running shoes and cellphone and was certified dead at the scene. The acting station commander of the Ivory Park police, Colonel Baba Mpotoane, expressed shock at this incident in which someone lost their life ‘over a pair of shoes’. “Chances are that one person in the community should know who those people are. We would appreciate it if anyone with information can tip us off,” Mpotoane said.
