Bongi shares her experiences through song

KYALAMI – Bongi Silinda better known as 'Bongi' said that her album was all about her personal experiences, her relationships, and stories of those close to her.

Bongi Silinda better known as ‘Bongi’ is back at it again with a Swati love song titled Sondzela.

The 32-year-old, Kyalami-based producer extraordinaire, singer, songwriter, MC, and voice-over artist and Idols 2014 finalist’s song comes ahead of her debut album to be released soon.
Silinda said the song was about a woman explaining to her partner that she does not like it when he goes out and leaves her behind.

She said it was about being in a relationship with someone but then you realise that they become too comfortable and make you the ‘wife’, they always go out with the guys or friends, do things and do not want people to know about their relationship with you.

Silinda said that the love song was written by Linda Gcwensa and produced by Mojalefa ‘Mjakes’ Thebe.

And after being in her cocoon for a while, having gone through a lot in the past years, Silinda decided to work on her album.

One she described as being a journey of her life after Idols until now.

“While travelling, doing gigs, I worked with a lot of people like Polamo and Masandi from Ghana, AlieKeys, KissBeatz, the late Thami Sobede, SoulKulture, Zano, DJ Ganyani, DJ Sdunkero, Gaba Canal, and KUSUSA among others,” said Silinda.

Silinda said that the album was created at a time when she also believed she was not at the level she deserved to be at as she felt like she got no recognition after Idols.

“The album, however, is a colourful body of work, it is a very personal album. I want people to know about what I have been through, my personal and romantic life.

“I think people should look forward to it. I think females will relate to it. I was personal when I wrote the album, though there are songs I wrote from other people’s stories.”
She said that her 15-track album had elements of soul, jazz, and rhythm and blues and would soon drop after she gets a good distribution deal.

Silinda concluded that Sondzela was also out on all digital platforms for streaming and downloading.
