Residents urged to report Aldicarb poison cases to the police
MIDRAND — The General manager of the Midrand SPCA Pam Pretorius says 'Two-Step' seems to have gained momentum again as the numbers are increasing compared to the last two years.

Midrand SPCA has urged residents to report incidents of their dogs being poisoned by criminals to the police.
General manager and inspector of Midrand SPCA Pam Pretorius said they were aware of escalating numbers of alleged poisoning of dogs by criminals who use the poison Aldicarb commonly known as Two-Step.

Speaking at the Midrand Sector 1 Crime Forum meeting Pretorius said Two-Step caused the painful death of animals especially dogs.
“It’s really important that we share this information with the public and encourage people to report animal poisoning to the police. But because there is so much ignorance around poisoning, it’s extremely important that we make the public aware that they report such cases to the police or SPCA near them.”
She warned that if someone’s dog was poisoned at their home it was possible that criminals could be eying their home. “If an attempt is made on one dog, it is likely there may be more poisoning on your property or the surrounding area…. if your neighbours have been affected, it is also advisable to check your house as well.”
Pretorius concluded that by reporting the incidents of dog poisoning they could conduct an autopsy to identify the poison that’s being used.
