Rabie Ridge police are looking for three suspects who allegedly fooled a 38-year-old man while he was praying in the bushes in Austin View.
It is alleged that the victim was held hostage in the bushes for about five hours at gunpoint by one of the trio.
According to the Rabie Ridge Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Dipolelo Moremi, the complainant said he had parked his silver Hyundai Accent next to the scrap-yard in an open field on Dann Road to pray on March 9 around 19:30.
“He was allegedly approached by three male while he was praying. They asked him for directions, and suddenly two of the three suspects took out firearms and demanded his car keys,” said Moremi.
She said the two suspects then drove off in his vehicle while the third suspect was left behind with him in the bushes.
Moremi added that the suspect who was with him then demanded the pin for his bank card.
“The victim gave the pin to the suspect and he was kept there until 00:30 on March 10. He was also robbed of his cellphone, undisclosed amount of cash, and router, among other valuables.”
The suspect who was with the victim then ran away and disappeared in the dark bushes.
All three suspects are still on the run.
