Midrand Sector 2 high visibility operation team makes two arrests

MIDRAND – The operation team arrested two people on suspicion of drug dealing and substance abuse.

Following their last high visibility operation on February 4, Midrand police, Midrand Sector 2 Crime Forum patrollers, and Hawkeye Security were back on Midrand Sector 2 streets.

In the course of the operation on March 23 between 19:00 and 22:00, the operation team arrested two people on suspicion of drug dealing and substance abuse.

They later responded to an allegation of gender-based violence where they acted swiftly and took the victim to Midrand Police Station to open an investigation against the aggressor.

Nolan Naidoo of Midrand Sector 2 said, “During the course of the operation, they [the operating staff] conducted stop and searches that proved highly successful in stopping crime and finding illegal items.”

Overall, Midrand Sector 2 had been quiet and safe in the past month. As a safety precaution, the operation team encouraged residents to stay informed on their alert groups and to let their communities know that they had a direct line of communication with them.

“We are always looking for more volunteers to join us. If you would like more information about patrolling, please reach out to me or one of the admins of the alert WhatsApp groups.”
