Local team blows points in their Johannesburg men’s regional league encounter
MIDRAND — With 28 points, Makang ranks seventh in the log with their next league match set for April 2, at Zoo Lake, against log leaders Opopo FC.
Midrand-based team Makang Supers FC blew numerous opportunities in their 1–1 home draw against Brixton Atletico in a Johannesburg Men’s Regional League match on March 26.
In the match played at Rabie Ridge stadium, Brixton was bright from the get-go, with Luciane Campbell sending wide a well-struck effort within two minutes.
Atletico’s Keenan Johnson and Kenan Gates forged a strong combination, and Gates nearly put the visitors ahead but Makang goalkeeper Tebogo ‘Tower’ Mabusela denied him the opportunity.

Makang dug in and created chances of their own as Vhuhwavho Mulamu had a one-on-one with Atletico keeper Ivanovich Mackonie but Mackonie was smart enough to foul Mulamu outside the box and give their opposition a set piece that was wasted.

However, Makang were 1–0 up after 35 minutes thanks to a Mulamu goal. Morongwa Masekela played an excellent through-ball to Lesego Meletse who found Tshepo Mphateng and Mphateng placed a delightful ball for Mulamu to tap in.

Atletico came back strong after halftime, using their fast wingers to whip in crosses that were troublesome for Tower and his defence.
Throughout the second half, Atletico applied pressure and it paid off in the 70th minute when Johnson’s lofted pass found Gates onside and he grabbed a deserved equaliser for the visitors.

In the dying minutes, both sides pushed for a winner, but Makang substitute Mbongeni Nkosi missed a half volley before Atletico’s Nathan Murphy had a shot saved by Tower.
With 28 points, Makang ranks seventh on the log with their next league match set for April 2 at Zoo Lake against log leaders Opopo FC.
Brixton Atletico with 25 points will hope to return to winning form when they welcome struggling Eagles FC at Cecil Payne Stadium on April 2.
