Midrand Local Football Association deputy chairperson lives for family and sports
'Everything I get involved in, I do it with love, dedication and passion,' said Midrand Local Football Association deputy chairperson and head of women's football Siyabulela Loyilane.
Siyabulela Loyilane is an avid sportsperson who wears many hats in different organisations.
As if that is not a lot for a mother of three teenagers (two boys and a girl), she is also one of the co-founders of Shumba FC, established in 2014, and which participates in the Midrand Local Football Association (MLFA).
Loyilane (36) was recently voted as the deputy chairperson of the MLFA and is a head of womens football in the association.
Where does she get time to juggle all this and still devote time to her family?
Currently based in Midrand, Loyilane was born in Ngxwalane just outside King Williams Town in the Eastern Cape. When growing up, the renowned football administrator wanted to be involved in sports as a player but because she could not participate, she ended up on the sidelines.
However, that did not deter the ambitious Loyilane in becoming involved in sports, although this time, on the sidelines and not in the pitch as desired.
“I am an acting CEO of the National Football Supporters Association of South Africa. Im proud to have played a role in advocating for the return of supporters to the stadium amid the Covid-19 pandemic. We have led a delegation to the Ministry of Sports, South African Football Association and the Premier Soccer League, respectively, to get supporters back into the stadiums.”
After being roped in as head of women’s football in the MLFA, three months later, the association established a womens league after 16 years of their existence.
Honestly though, how does she do all of this? When asked, in your spare time, what do you like to do?
‘What spare time? ” she chuckled. “Most of my time is always dedicated to my family and sport. I am continuously reading and networking to get fresh ideas in how I can do things better to improve our sports.”
True to her hard work, in 2020 Loyilane won the Momentum Sport Award for Volunteer of the Year.
Loyilane holds a Master’s in Football and Business Management; Certificate in Sports Law; SAFA D License in Coaching; SAFA Level 1 Referees Certificate.
She concluded: “Everything I get involved in, I do it with love, dedication and passion. Hence, I will not put my hand on anything that I will not dedicate my full attention to.”
